An old thing

Did you know that George in Estonian is JÜRI emoticon? Well, for my b-day I got also free tickets for a fare "Motorex", which was supposedly (according to the ads) the biggest, greatest, most innovative of all the times … in the Baltic states. I decided to see what people saw in this event and took my camera with me. The fare ground is just a 20-minute walk away from my home - so, I took also some pictures on my way: the panorama of Tallinn, an old lady feeding the swans, a well-fed swan.

And now for the Motorex fare - it’s an annual event where basically all the car and bike dealers come to present the new models and try to persuade normal people who really do not need a car to buy one at a lower price. Good for them. As I have no intentions to buy this 1-ton metal monstrum, I was there as a ‘tourist’. By the way, did you know that in Estonia there was a car industry that produced formula-cars: here’s one old-timer. And guess, what was the brand name! No clue? Well, you wouldn’t win the "who want’s to be a millionaire" game if you didn’t know that - it was called "Estonia", of course. Daaa!

The good thing was that there were also two cars that I’d want to have one day: saab and mini. And here are some detailes from Mercedes and BMW: definition of power, the exit, industrial beauty, a million-kroon look, lots of holes, digestive system or maybe lungs.

There are two other pictures that I would like to show you. They show nicely how male-oriented these events are - of course, I’m talking about young blond busty girls with mini skirts and high-heels. Well, I definitely did not mind them being there, but what made me think was their function there - in most of the cases, they simply had to sit in the cars. And they did it without any emotion. I was just wandering, what could one such girl say on a job interview about her last jobs: "I was modelling at a car fare "Motorex" in Tallinn. I sat with my friend in a car for four days, 8 hours a day. It was such a challenging job and I would like to continue in a similar way. Do you have any offerings? By the way, the preferred car is BMW."
